In an unexpected day, Natsume discovered that all of his illusions were actually real, and that this a gift his grandmother Reiko also had. However, that was not the end, only then when the real adventures started. Natsume found out that not only did he inherited special abilities, but he also inherited the ‘Book of Friends.’ A book that contains all the names of all the spirits Reiko defeated and subjugated. The possession of this book had brought him nothing good, only more trouble. As he lived haunted by his grandmother’s past defeated spirits. However, one day, he finds a cute, fat, talking cat along whom he decides to free spirits on that Book. As well as to take on his sake to protect the book, not to fall into the wrong hands.
9.Otome Youkai Zakuro
Otome Youkai Zakuro is a series that tells the story of a hired military man, Kei Agemaki who the Ministry of Spirits Affairs assigned him. Kei portrays a charming, polite, and a complete gentleman. However, his only kryptonite is his absolute fear towards spirits! In his new job, Agemaki finds himself partnered up with a cute, small woman with wolf-like ears and a tail named Zakuro. Now the weird pair have to work together to solve all the spirit-related problems happening lately in the region.All in order for humans and youkai to strengthen their relation. Meanwhile, also helping Agemaki overcome his fear.
Wondering what are the similarities between Kamisama Kiss and Otome Youkai Zakuro? Then we can obviously say that the male fox spirit Tomoe of Kamisama Kiss, and the female wolf spirit Holo of Oookami to Koushinryou are very similar in their behavior. This couple will do all what it takes to help people that go to the shrine in order to seek divine help.
Gingitsune is another, and one of the few series that really and perfectly managed to adopt the theme of spirits. Not only this theme but also the partnership between two unrelated species is accurately demonstrated.
7.RDG: Red Data Girl
Izumiko is an innocent young female that has lived her life secluded, sheltered in a mountain shrine ever since she was born. She has been raised to become the beholder of the Hime-gami, a mysterious force. Poor Izumiko did not live quite a normal life. Her family had planned each detail and measured all aspects of her life. They arranged everything, from the prestigious school she’s supposed to attend to even her hair and clothing style. Miyuki Sagara is a descendant mountain monk who was fated to be her guardian. Unfortunately, neither Izumiko, nor the monk is happy about this unfavorable arrangement. Especially Miyuki, who was exiled from village to guard a girl whom he sees as useless.
The real question remains, can both of them learn how to work together for the sake of other people’s goodness? Can they compromise, or this duo can never be compatible?
6.Wolf Girl and Black Prince
We all know that the rope of lies is short and lies can come back to bite you. Unfortunately, that is exactly what Erika did not pay attention to when she made up for herself a new fake boyfriend to impress her new classmates. Her big lie bounced back at her badly. Yes, we know that it was a dumb move, but if she knew the consequences of her actions, she would not had done it. Moreover, to add a cheery on top of the whipped cream, the random person that she used his picture turned out to be a student within the same school. ODDS! Alternatively, the fake boyfriend exchanged his silence with such a horrible price. Poor Erika now is obliged to obey all the stupid commands of Kyoya Sata’s command. She has to bark, too, because she is too afraid that he opens his mouth and reveals the truth.
Although this wolf has Erika on her nerves, she may be starting to build some awkwardly real feelings for person. Love does find is way to us in very unusual ways.
5.InuYasha
InuYasha follows the story of Kagome Higurashi, a fifteen-year-old girl whose normal life, as she knows it, ends when a demon dragged her into a cursed well. Instead of hitting the bottom of the well, she found herself traveled up to 500 years in the past in Japan’s feudal era. With that demon targeting her to have the sacred, wish-granting jewel called Shikon ,which was re-born inside of her when she time-traveled.
After a battle with the demon, the sacred jewel accidentally shatters. Kagome, now, in on the hunt to find the shattered pieces and to bring them back. So they do not fall into the wrong hands, joins her, in her journey, the hybrid half dog-demon half human, Inuyasha. As well as, the company of the orphan fox-demon, Shippo, the intelligent monk, Miroku, and the demon slayer, Sango. As a team, they have to set aside their differences and work together as one person, to find the jewel and protect Japan from its miss-use, and defeat the evils of the demon Naraku.
4.Kaichou wa Maid-sama!
Another anime that reaped off a spot on our list is the one and only Kaichou wa Maid-sama. This series follows the story of the high school student, council president Ayuzawa. She plays a well known role model for all girls in her school, for she portrays the first girl that managed to be the school student president. However, this Miss flawless has an embarrassing secret. Ayuzawa works as a part-time maid at a maid café to help her family that struggles to pay the bills. Living under the shadows of fear, she tries all her best to keep her job hidden from her colleagues, and preserve her flawless image as the unbeatable student. Until one day, Takumi Usui, the popular boy in school, discovered her secret accidentally when he walked into the maid café.
Now, Usui has the power to destroy his rival forever. He is able to ruin her reputation with just one word from him. He can even force her to obey his orders, and uses her secret as an opportunity to get closer to her. Would love find itself to these young students?
3.Noragami
The infamous Noragami takes the third spot quite easily. This crazy series carries within its episodes the life of a young god named Yato. Yato now faces a problem of gathering some Shrine worshipers, to dedicate themselves to him, since he is long forgotten. Just when things started to be a bit harsher on our minor god, he met Hiyori, a sweet little girl who has a unique, yet a queer gift of seeing spirits. Well let’s just consider it a gift, even though it is a bit scary to be a gift. Does it sound familiar for you? Yes! This is another couple from unsimilar species the same as the couple in Kamisama Kiss, Nanami and Tomoe. The reason the two had met is when Hiyori saved Yato from being run over by a bus. Only then did they become partners. The couple help people to get out, safely, of their problems. Moreover,they also will befriend other kami on their way.
2.Inu x Boku SS
We all seek for liberty and freedom, and we are all willing to do anything just to sense our own liberality. Shirakiin Ririchiyo is a young woman that wants independence more than anything else. One of her many attempts to gain her independence is living separately. Shirakiin lived in a peculiar mansion that is nothing like your average residence. The house has its own, extremely strict rules; one of which is being accompanied by a guardian. In addition, Shirakiin later discovered what seems as a guardian is in fact a fox spirit.
Inu x Boku SS is yet another series where the female protagonist is united with a non-human, who is charged to protect her. Moreover, the similarity between Kamisama Kiss and Inu x Boku SS is the non-human protector is also a fox-spirit. If you are a Kamisama Kiss fan, you will certainly find this series enjoyable.

Fruit Basket is a series that tells the story of the sixteen years old, compassionate, orphaned girl ,Tohru Honda. After the death of her mother, she ran up by force to the woods to camp, looking for a shelter. However, Honda was invited to live in her handsome classmate’s house and his cousins. What Honda did not know when she accepted their invitation to move in is that these young men are cursed? If anyone of them hugged any one of the opposite sex, they turned into animals of the Chinese zodiac signs.
