It had been so long ever since a new Pokémon type was introduced to the public. Players or viewers like a little bombshell every now and then, so in Generation 6, they traduced Fairy type. It has been more than 12 years ever since we met a new Pokémon type. The main intention behind releasing this Fairy type was to balance the type chart by reducing the power of dragons. In fact, it gave an offensive boost to the Poison and Steel types. So, several Pokémon were redone and a new Pokémon appeared. However, there aren’t many Fairy type Pokémon, only 34, excluding Megas and Formes.
10. Mega Audino
Mega Audino is a Normal, Fairy type Pokémon introduced in Generation 5. It’s also known as the Hearing Pokémon. Audino is just a Normal type Pokémon, and it does not evolve into or form any other Pokémon. It can only Mega Evolve into Mega Audino, adding it to the Fairy types. Mega Audino can sense what someone is feeling and when an egg might hatch using the feelers on its ears. It has one ability called Healer. This Pokémon is rather strong and useful, as it has 103 in Hp, 126 in Defense, and 126 in Special Defense. However, it’s way too slow and its Attack is too low, so it’s just better used as an armor. That said, it has weaknesses against Steel and Poison types.
9. Sylveon
In Generation 6, Slyveon was introduced as a pure Fairy type Pokémon. Also known as Intertwining Pokémon. Based on its name, Sylveon evolves from Eevee when leveled up. It’s one of Eevee’s final forms, along with Vaporeon, Jolteon, and many others. Sylveon sends a soothing aura from its ribbon-like feelers to calm fights.
This Pokémon is useful in both offense and defense, as it has 110 in Special Attack and 130 in Special Defense. It joins forces with its abilities Cute Charm and Pixilate. Along with its weakness against Steel and Poison types, it’s also shabby in Attack, Defense and Speed.
8. Gardevoir
Originally, Gardevoir was pure Psychic type. It’s a Psychic, Fairy type Pokémon, known as Embrace Pokémon. Gardevoir is one of Ralts’ final forms—the other one being Gallade. It evolves from Kirlia starting at level 30, and it can also Mega Evolve into Mega Gardevoir using Gardevoirite. Gardevoir has the ability to read the future. It releases psychokinetic energy at full power if it senses danger threatening its Trainer. Without the Mega Evolution, Gardevoir has two aces, one in Special Attack of 125 in stats, and the other Special Defense of 115. Though its Mega Evolution strengthens those aspects, it also boosts Speed a bit. In its pocket, it supports those stats with the abilities Synchronize, Trace, and Telepathy. However, Gardevoir has very low stats in Hp, Attack, and Defense, as well as its weakness against Ghost, Steel, and Poison types.
7. Florges
Introduced in Generation 6 is Florges, a pure Fairy type Pokémon. It’s known as Garden Pokémon. Florges has several forms, just like Flabébé—Yellow, Red, Orange, Blue, and White Flowers. It starts from Flabébé, then Floette who evolves to Florges when exposed to a Shiny Stone. Florges claims exquisite flower gardens as its territory. It obtains power and strength from basking in the energy emitted by flowering plants. This Pokémon has strength in both Special Attack, having 112 in its stats, and 154 in Special Defense, which makes it suitable for both. Yet it’s better used as a shield. By its side, it has Flower Veil and Symbiosis as abilities. Sp. Atk and Sp. Def compensate for its low Attack and Defense. Nevertheless, Florges is not super effective against Steel and Poison types.
6. Mr.Mime
Mr.Mime is a Pokémon everyone grew up to know, for it made its first appearance in Generation 1. Before Generation 6, Mr.Mime was a pure Psychic type. Mr.Mime evolves from Mime Jr. when levels up while knowing Mimic. As its name suggests, Mr.Mime is a master of pantomime. It convinces the watchers that something un-seeable is actually there with its gestures and motions. Once they’re convinced, it turns to reality. Based on its stats, this Pokémon has enough strength in both Special Attack and Special Defense, which make it a two-edged weapon. Mr.Mime has enough Speed—90—to compensate for its other low stats. Besides that, it has three abilities, Filter, Soundproof, and Technician. However, it’s best to avoid putting Mr.Mime against Ghost, Steel, and Poison types, he’ll be very useless.
5. Whimsicott
Firstly introduced in Generation 5, the Windveiled Pokémon called Whimsicott is a Grass, Fairy type. Whimsicott evolves from Cottonee when exposed to a Sun Stone. This Pokémon appears along with whirlwinds. Whimsicott likes to pull pranks, such as moving furniture and leaving balls of cotton in houses. Its Speed stats are the highest among the others, proving itself as a fast Pokémon for a fast, sneaky attack. Though, it has an average Special Attack and Defense, they can be useful to the player if they consider the advantage of Speed. Nevertheless, it has three abilities to account for its low stats, those being Infiltrator, Prankster, and Chlorophyll. Yet, Whimsicott is not suitable against Fire, Ice, Poison, Flying, and Steel types. Especially Poison type Pokémon, they cause x4 times damage.
4. Mega Mawile
The first introduction of Mawile was in Generation 3, and it claimed the name Deceiver Pokémon. Mawile is a Steel, Fairy Pokémon. While it does not evolve or form any other Pokémon, it can Mega Evolve into Mega Mawile using Mawilite. It’s fairy known that Mawile is not that strong of a Pokémon, but its Mega Mawile is not too shabby. This pokémon’s huge jaws are not just for show, they are actually steel horns that have been transformed. Mawile’s plain looking face serves as an illusion to lure its preys, making them let their guards down. When its least expected, using those big jaws, Mawile devours them.
As mentioned before, Mega Mawile is not too shabby in both Attack and Defense, as they are its strong suit. An Attack of 105 and Defense of 125. Along with the ability of Huge Power. However, this Pokémon is not fast enough, nor strong enough in Special Attack, and it’s damaged easily. That said, add to those disadvantages its weakness against Fire and Ground types.
3. Mega Altaria
Altaria is a Dragon, Flying type Pokémon, introduced Generation 3. It is also known as Humming Pokémon. This Pokémon evolves from Swablu starting at level 35. Altaria is strong, but nowhere near the strength when it is Mega Evolved using Altarianite. Mega Altaria is a Dragon, Fairy type Pokémon, which is different from Altaria all together. It is said that this Pokémon dances and wheels through the sky among cotton-like clouds.
Mega Altaria makes its listeners delve into dream wonderment by singing melodies in its crystal-clear voice. It has similar stats in Attack, Defense, and Special Attack, as all of them take 110, except 10 in Special Defense. Despite having lower stats in Speed and Hp, those two do not pose a greater danger. In fact, they’re not that low, as they are above average for Mega Altaria. Though, it has a weakness against Steel, Fairy, Poison, and Ice types
2. Diancie
Known as Jewel Pokémon is Diancie, a Rock, Fairy type. Diancie is an even-exclusive Pokémon. Despite the great strength it has in its normal evolution, it also has Mega Evolution. That is only available from Omega Ruby & Alpha Sapphire onwards. However, it does not evolve or form any other Pokémon. It fairly looks like a bigger version of Carbink. It’s a sudden transformation of it, however, it changes color to pink. The said pink, glimmering body is said to be the prettiest, loveliest sight in the whole world. Diancie’s stats are rather promising, as it has Attack and Special Attack of 100 and 150 in both Defense and Special Defense. That said, it’s probably the prettiest and most useful Pokémon in both offense and defense. Along with that, it has Clear Body as an ability. Despite being useful, it lacks HP and Speed way too much.
On the other hand, its Mega Evolution fixes the problem and the disadvantage concerning Speed. In addition, it makes Mega Diancie stronger in the other areas, not too much, but enough to cause more damage. However, it still has a weakness against Steel, Water, Grass, and Ground types.
1. Xerneas
This beautifully designed Pokémon is a pure Fairy type, known as the Life Pokémon. Xerneas is a legendary Pokémon; exclusive to Pokémon X. it was introduced to the public in 2013, along with Chespin, Fennekin, Froakie, and Yveltal. Apparently, this Pokémon does not evolve or form any other Pokémon. It is said that Xerneas can share eternal life, and that it slept for a thousand years in the form of a tree before its revival. Xerneas is, by far, the best Fairy type Pokémon, as it has plenty of advantages.
For instance, its HP is quite high, taking up to 126; Attack and Special Attack take up the same high number of 131 in stats. Xerneas has one ability, that being Fairy Aura. Though it may appear that Xerneas Defense and Speed are rather low compared to the other stats, they’re still pretty good. They do not pose a great disadvantage, danger to the player. Despite all that, Xerneas is not super effective against Steel and Poison types.
